Job Description

We are looking to hire a detailed-oriented, driven, and resourceful Microgrid Mechanical Technician to assume responsibilities for multiple Microgrid generators. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of performing maintenance on power generation equipment, electrical experience as a plus.

The entry-level Microgrid Mechanical Technician will coordinate with Area Managers to ensure generators are maintained, serviced, and operate for customer requirements for on demand electricity. This is a remote field position and will report to the Area Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled repairs of Volvo Penta Diesel Engines (16 L), Power Solutions International (21.9 L), Generac (21.9 L) and Marathon generator ends, as well as various voltage control and synchronizing equipment under supervision of senior technicians.
  • Learn and utilize manufacturer specific software to troubleshoot and diagnose engine and control system problems.
  • Facilitate technical support and liaison with equipment manufacturers.
  • Perform scheduled, preventive, or predictive generator maintenance tasks.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair tasks.
  • Perform periodic inspections to identify maintenance needs.
  • Work in potentially confined areas of high heat and humidity, and cold.
  • Follow company process and procedures for verbal/written communications.
  • Utilize all current technology for communication, documentation, and research.
  • Ensure Safe Operation of electrical equipment by enforcing company and industry standards, including but not limited to LOTO and Dead Checks.
  • Safely prepare, operate, and maintain motor vehicles for the purpose of conducting company business.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, have a positive attitude, be team-oriented, eager to grow, dependable, safety-minded, adaptable, a strong communicator, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
  • Basic mechanical skills and engine operation knowledge (electrical experience is a plus).
  • Must be open to training, direction, and continuous learning and improvement.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport materials, equipment, or personnel to designated locations, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Successfully pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check to ensure compliance with company standards and safe driving practices.
  • Attention to Detail- Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail.
  • Computer skills- Uses computers, software applications, databases and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Flexibility-Technicians have a rotating on call schedule. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for multiple hours a day.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and lift 50 lbs safely.
  • Integrity- Work efficiently and effectively when with or without supervision.
