Job summary

GA Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking an entry-level food service worker to learn to prepare, heat and finish cooking items and serve customers. Under direct supervision, you will learn to receive and disburse money for food items and maintain clean work areas.

You will perform basic sanitation, assist with food storage, and support daily service operations in a full-time role with competitive benefits and opportunities for growth within the statewide program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED AND Six months of experience in the area of assignment.
• An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed.

Responsibilities

• Cleans work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware
• Cleans, peels, slices and trims foodstuffs using manual and electric appliances
• Conducts or assists with food supply requisitions and sanitation and maintenance inspections
• Receives payment for food items
• Replenishes supplies of food, condiments, and equipment at steam tables and service bars
• Stores food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
• Unpacks and stores supplies, raw and prepared food products
