Job summary

Redwire Defense Tech in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking an Entry-Level Flight Test Engineer to support planning, execution, and analysis of UAV tests. You will assist with flight test preparation, instrumentation, data collection, troubleshooting, and documentation, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced UAS program.

The role involves outdoor test activities, travel up to 25%, collaboration across engineering disciplines, and learning opportunities to develop technical and operational skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in aerospace/flight engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar).
• Coursework or project experience in aerospace systems, UAVs, robotics or flight-related engineering.
• Familiarity with data acquisition, telemetry concepts, or controls.
• Ability to follow structured test procedures and maintain clear documentation.
• Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting aptitude.
• Ability to work cooperatively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Test Planning & Coordination: support development of test plans and procedures.
• Flight Test Execution: assist with pre-flight checks, operations, and data monitoring.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: collect and analyze flight test data and prepare reports.
• Safety & Risk Management: follow safety protocols and assist in risk assessments.
• Continuous Improvement: help refine test methodologies and stay updated on UAV trends.
• Travel: role may require up to 25% travel; outdoor testing in varied conditions.
