Job summary

Johnson Controls in Raleigh, NC is seeking Inspectors to perform routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on electrical, sprinkler or suppression life-safety product lines. You will document deficiencies, represent the company professionally, and follow a structured inspection schedule.

The role requires lifting up to 70 lbs, occasional travel, and enrollment in Grinnell's Apprenticeship Program. A high school diploma is required and licenses as needed by codes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Ability to obtain and retain licenses required by National, State and Local codes.
• Able to perform physical labor including carrying/moving equipment up to 50-70 lbs.
• Able to work in ladders, scaffolding, high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
• Willing to travel out of town and work flexible hours (on-call, nights, weekends).

Inspectors are responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, Sprinkler or Suppression life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines

How You Will Do It

• Responsible for meeting customer expectations while performing quality inspections
• Accurately discern and document deficiencies found during an inspection
• Professionally represent the company at all times
• Complete Service Acknowledgement/inspections with proper coding through communicating devices, such as laptop computers, smartphones, and/or hardcopy
• Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule
• Make minor repairs and programming changes to systems being inspected.
• Complete assigned inspections on time
• Perform other duties as directed
• Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs and be capable of performing physical labor
• Assist foreman in the installation of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems
• Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment
• Be enrolled in Grinnell's approved Apprenticeship Program, maintaining all requirements of the Apprenticeship Standards
• Have a positive attitude and the ability to learn quickly

• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
• Ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends to meet customer requirements.
• Willing to travel out of town.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
• Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
• Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred

• 1 year of sprinkler inspection experience
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $17-$23 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
