Job summary

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, seeks an Entry-Level Field Technician I for Construction Materials Testing in Clute, Texas. You will operate testing equipment, record data, and report findings under supervision on active projects.

The role includes outdoor work, driving requirements, and credentialing (TWIC and site access) with training to advance in the A/E/C industry.

Qualifications

• Experience performing hands-on outdoor physical labor.
• Experience in construction-related environments or field testing.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable driving record.
• Must be able to obtain a TWIC card prior to or soon after hire.
• Must obtain and maintain client site access credentials ( petrochemical/port access).

The Construction Materials Testing Field Technician (I) is responsible for performing a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or detailed controlled procedures.

What you’ll do:

• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (example: Soil, concrete or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting
• Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams
• Use specific methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and give limited interpretation of results
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• Experience working hands-on, doing physical labor, in an outdoor work environment
• Experience working in the construction industry (or relevant)
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
• Must possess, or be able to obtain prior to hire, a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
• Must be able to obtain and maintain client-required site access credentials, including petrochemical and port facility access
• Must meet all Intertek and client site pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to criminal background, urinalysis,and hair follicle drug test

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Construction Material Testing (CMT) experience
• ACI / NICET Certifications
• Plant experience

Physical Work Requirements:

• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication (hearing) and to make the discriminations sound
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
• Ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights
• Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 49 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
