As a Field Service Engineer at BW Papersystems, you will play a vital role in the installation, servicing, PLC programming/troubleshooting, and support of capital equipment within the paper industry. We will provide extensive training onsite at one of our Wisconsin facilities (housing provided) for approximately 3 months; after the initial training period, you can live anywhere in the US and travel to customer sites!
Work independently with general direction, adhering to policies and objectives. Provide technical guidance for installations and PLC programming to team members as needed.
Field Service Engineers primarily work in customer facilities, often exposed to elements like dirt, oil, and grease. Extensive travel is required, with overnight stays and extended periods away from home.
Standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling may be required. Lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted; greater than 50 pounds with assistance. Normal mental and visual attention is required to perform various duties.
This is a full‑time, regular position. Extended days and hours may be required to meet business needs. Field time is anticipated to be approximately 75‑80% annually, with holiday and weekend work routine for this role.
This position requires up to 100% travel, with Field Service Engineers spending approximately 21 days (mix of consecutive and non‑consecutive customer visits) of each month traveling and working away from home. Travel schedules are planned in advance to provide flexibility and predictable time off between assignments. When not traveling or working on a customer assignment, Field Service Team Members are not expected to report to an office. The Field Service Team can live in nearly any of the lower‑48 states as long as the location is within 2 hours of an airport. Travel throughout the United States is required. Assignments may involve extended stays at one or multiple customer sites. This could include periods of two weeks or more without scheduled time off depending on the project and customer requirements. Field Service Team Members are responsible for independently coordinating and booking their business travel, managing all travel logistics, and accurately completing and submitting expense reports in accordance with company policies. Field Service Team Members get to keep all travel rewards (hotel, airline, rental car). International travel opportunities may also be available based on business needs and the employee’s interest and availability. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid passport.
The approximate pay range for this position is $80,000–$90,000 annually. Please note that the pay range is a good faith estimate at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, and geographic location.
