Job summary

Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) in Oklahoma City seeks an entry-level Facility Maintenance Technician I to support building, equipment, and grounds maintenance. You will respond to work orders, assist with monitoring building systems, and collaborate with facilities staff and contractors to maintain safe, functional surroundings for employees and visitors.

The role offers hands-on training, development of technical skills, and a customer-focused approach in a research environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a trade or technical school program and a minimum of one (1) year of experience maintaining mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Completes assigned work orders and documentation accurately, following up on repair requests to ensure timely completion.
• Performs preventive maintenance and a wide variety of facility tasks including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall, doors, and hardware.
• Assists experienced maintenance technicians with equipment installations, preventive maintenance, and repairs while developing technical knowledge.
• Evaluates maintenance issues and Escalates to a licensed or highly skilled tradesperson when needed.
• Responds to routine maintenance requests and supports facility operations to minimize disruptions.
• Operates and maintains hand and power tools, ladders, and other equipment safely.
• Maintains a safe work environment by following safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
• Provides professional, courteous service to staff, contractors, vendors, and visitors.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
