Job summary

ECS Mid-Atlantic, LLC is seeking an Environmental Technician to perform field sampling and environmental data collection in Chantilly, VA. You will work under supervision, progressively handling independent field tasks and contributing to project reporting.

Qualifications

• 0 years of related experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Obtain basic certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying site conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry field equipment (~40 lbs).
• Very limited knowledge of environmental principles and testing methods (entry-level).
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and in a team environment.
• Basic proficiency with electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
• Ability to read and interpret maps, plans, and field instructions (developing).
• Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented (developing).
• Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies.
• If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs and supports field sampling of various environmental media (soil, groundwater, air, etc.).
• Works in both indoor and outdoor environments under varying site conditions.
• Communicates daily with technicians, project managers, and site personnel as directed.
• Attends project meetings with senior staff as requested.
• Assists with data collection, basic calculations, and documentation activities.
• Prepares clear and accurate daily field reports describing site activities and observations.
• Learns to calibrate, operate, and maintain field equipment.
• Assists with report production and basic office support tasks.
• Supports environmental assessments, including asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint, radon, mold.
• Begins to support installation, operation, and maintenance of remediation equipment.
