Job summary

Brown and Caldwell, Inc. in Las Vegas, NV is seeking an entry level engineer to support design infrastructure projects for municipal and private sector clients.

The role involves civil/mechanical support for wastewater, water and stormwater systems, pumping facilities, and related projects. You will work in a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment mentored by senior staff, with flexibility to manage your own schedule and participate in a range of planning, design, and construction

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related field is required.
  • Typically 0–2 years related work experience in Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Encouraged to certify in the SMS framework within the first six months.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analyses and support solutions for sustainable water and wastewater management.
  • Prepare and review detailed Environmental Engineering reports.
  • Plan and design environmental protection systems for public health.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other disciplines; assist field investigations.

Job description

Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering firm, has an exciting opportunity for an entry level engineer to work on design infrastructure projects for municipal and private sector clients in our Las Vegas, NV office. You will provide civil/mechanical engineering support for a variety of projects which may include planning, evaluation, design and construction related activities for wastewater, water and storm water conveyance systems, pumping systems and related facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform technical analyses and support the identification of potential solutions to sustainable water and wastewater management.
  • Prepare and review detailed reports pertaining to Environmental Engineering.
  • Plan and design effective environmental protection systems to safeguard and enhance public and ecosystem health.
  • Prepare comprehensive, facility, and strategic resource management plans or similar
  • Analyze scientific data and conduct quality control checks to provide plans and recommendations that conform to environmental regulations
  • Provide technical support for environmental projects. Areas of technical support could include modeling of wastewater and drinking water treatment and delivery systems, vendor outreach to support planning and design, technical analysis to support permitting and regulatory approvals, among others.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
Preferred Requirements

In this role you will work with and be mentored by nationally recognized, senior technical staff. Our ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized and capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.

  • Execute activities on projects for master planning and design of water/wastewater conveyance systems, as well as engineering services during construction.
  • Provide design efforts of small to large projects that meet or exceed the project success metrics.
  • Understand open-channel and pressured conveyance system hydraulics.
  • Analysis, calculations, research, selection, and layout, necessary to develop required new installation and rehabilitation design documents.
  • Defect coding and assessment of wastewater collection systems.
  • Coordinate with project managers, client service managers, and other project personnel from other disciplines.
  • Conduct field investigations and perform condition assessment evaluations.
  • Direct the work of drafters and designers, coordinate with other disciplines.
Skills And Competencies
  • Basic competency in relevant environmental engineering principles and techniques.
  • Possesses foundational problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret scientific data with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for preparation of reports and presentation of findings.
Experience
  • Typically, a minimum of 0-2 years related work experience in Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Encouraged to certify in the SMS framework in the first six months of being in the role.
Preferred Experience
  • B.S. degree required, in related engineering field (Civil, Mechanical)
  • NASSCO certified
  • Demonstrated strong team work skills.
  • Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
Education
  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related field is required.

Salary Range:

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $64,000 - $87,000
