Job summary

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering seeks an entry-level Electrical Engineer for our Lenexa, Kansas office. You will support design standards, tools, and project tasks while growing your technical skills in a collaborative environment.

This early career role focuses on learning, applying engineering judgment, and contributing to detailed electrical designs, reports, and drawings across industrial projects. Local travel may be required as projects progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• Master's Degree preferred
• GPA above 3.0 preferred
• 0–2 years of experience in electrical design for Industrial/Water projects
• EIT preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation)
• Proficient in MS Office suite
• Ability to travel as needed by business requirements

Responsibilities

• Develops preliminary and detail electrical designs for industrial and water projects
• Performs load calculations and coordination studies using engineering software (ETAP)
• Develops technical reports and white papers
• Provides project progress updates to Lead Engineer
• Reviews vendor and discipline drawings for electrical information
• Maintains master drawing sets and specifications
• Participates in project meetings and checks design for safety and operability
