Job summary

Salas O’Brien in San Jose is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to kick-start your engineering career by contributing to real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience, and collaborating with a team of skilled professionals.

You will assist in designing electrical circuits using CAD tools, perform basic calculations, document designs, and support project delivery from development through testing and manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or Altium Designer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Internship or co-op experience in electrical engineering is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of electrical circuits, systems, and products using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical, Altium Designer).
  • Support the development of schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure electrical design requirements are met.
  • Perform basic electrical calculations and analysis to ensure design integrity.
  • Assist in testing and validation of prototypes and final products.
  • Help troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during design and testing phases.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specs and test plans.
  • Assist in creating technical presentations and project status updates.
  • Work with senior engineers and project managers to meet deadlines and milestones.
  • Participate in selection and evaluation of electrical components and systems.
  • Provide support during manufacturing and assembly to ensure quality.

Design and Development
  • Assist in the design and development of electrical circuits, systems, and products using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical, Altium Designer).
  • Support the development of schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure electrical design requirements are met.
Testing And Analysis
  • Perform basic electrical calculations and analysis to ensure design integrity and compliance with specifications.
  • Assist in the testing and validation of prototypes and final products.
  • Help troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during the design and testing phases.
Documentation And Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Assist in the creation of technical presentations and project status updates.
Project Support

Travel

Limited Travel up to 10%

The expected base salary range for this role is $75,000 – $85,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.

This role is also eligible for performance-based bonuses, equity participation, and a comprehensive U.S.-based benefits package, including:
