Job summary

Textron is seeking an entry-level Environmental Health & Safety Specialist in Augusta, Georgia. You’ll gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and develop across functions within a Fortune 500 environment.

Responsibilities include identifying hazards, improving safety culture, and supporting incident investigations while adhering to OSHA and Textron EHS standards. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required with First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, safety engineering, occupational safety, or related field required OR years of experience in lieu of degree.
• P1 – 0-2 years of relevant experience with degree OR 4 years of relevant EHS experience in lieu of degree
• Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
• First Aid/CPR/AED required.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and federal/state regulations, OSHA injury reporting preferred. Experience with emergency response protocols, powered industrial truck requirements, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001, machine guarding, LOTO, and control of hazardous energy requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine work environments for physical, chemical, biological, and environmental hazards and recommend improvements to process and equipment.
• Conduct activities that measure and improve workplace safety culture.
• Implement corrective actions for stresses that impair employee health and efficiency.
• Interpret OSHA standards and regulations and maintain cooperative relationship with OSHA.
• Monitor and support a robust process for incident investigation and failure analysis of environmental, health and safety incidents.
• Conduct health and safety training courses for supervisors and employees, as needed.
• Provide technical expertise and assistance in the design of protective equipment and redesign equipment to reduce hazards.
• Manage aspects of workers compensation and act as liaison to 3rd party claims management group.
• Implement and monitor the effectiveness of Textron EHS standards and policies.
• Coordinate activities involving outside regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA.
• Analyze proposed and final regulations for impacts to manufacturing operations.
• Submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual reports to federal, state, local and corporate offices as required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, safety engineering, occupational safety, or related field
