Job summary

The EHS Specialist Sr will assess work environments for hazards, implement corrective actions, and partner with regulatory bodies to maintain safety standards inside manufacturing settings. Responsibilities include incident investigation, safety training, OSHA compliance, and risk mitigation across processes

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental safety or related field or equivalent years of experience.
• Experience: 6+ years with degree or 10+ years without a degree in EH.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements and federal/state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Examine work environments for hazards and recommend improvements.
• Measure and improve workplace safety culture.
• Implement corrective actions to protect health and efficiency.
• Interpret OSHA standards and liaise with OSHA.
• Monitor incident investigation and failure analysis processes.
• Conduct health and safety training for supervisors and employees.
• Support design of protective equipment and redesign equipment to reduce hazards.
• Manage workers' compensation and coordinate with 3rd party claims group.
• Ensure Textron EHS standards and policies are followed.
• Coordinate with outside regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA).
• Analyze proposed regulations for manufacturing impacts.
• Submit periodic reports to authorities and corporate offices.

Its vehicles are found in environments ranging from golf courses to factories, airports to planned communities, and theme parks to hunting preserves.

Responsibilities

• Examine work environments for various physical, chemical, biological, and environmental hazards and stresses and make recommendations for improvements to process and equipment.
• Conduct activities that measure and improve workplace safety culture.
• Implement corrective actions for stresses that impair employee health and efficiency.
• Interpret OSHA standards and regulations and maintain cooperative relationship with OSHA.
• Monitor and support a robust process for incident investigation and failure analysis of environmental, health and safety incidents.
• Conduct health and safety training courses for supervisors and employees, as needed.
• Provide technical expertise and assistance in the design of protective equipment for uses on processes and machinery and redesign equipment to eliminate and reduce safety and health hazards as needed.
• Manage aspects of workers compensation and act as a liaison to 3rd party claims management group.
• Implement and monitor the effectiveness of Textron EHS standards and policies.
• Coordinate activities involving outside regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, etc.
• Analyze proposed and final regulations for impacts to manufacturing operations.
• Submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual reports to federal, state, local and corporate offices as required.

Education

Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, safety engineering, occupational safety, or related field required OR years of experience in lieu of degree.

Years of Experience: 6 or more years of relevant experience with degree OR 10 years of relevant EH experience in lieu of degree.

Software Knowledge: Microsoft Office Suite preferred.

Additional Requirements

Certified or ability to be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED required.

Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and federal/state regulations, OSHA injury reporting preferred.

Experience with emergency response protocols, powered industrial truck requirements, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001, machine guarding, LOTO, and control of hazardous energy requirements preferred.
