Job Description
The Staff Pad haspartnered with a well-established logistics and warehousing organization we arelooking to hire a dependable, safety-focused Entry-Level Driver for ourChicago, IL location.
In this role, you’lloperate 16'–26' straight box trucks on local and interstate routes, transport furniture,personal effects, and, with training, fine art and antiques.
What You’ll Do
- Safelyoperate 16'–26' company box trucks for local and interstate collections anddeliveries
- Conductpre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are safe, clean, and prepared
- Verifygoods against daily trip sheets or manifests before departure
- Reportmanifest changes to the Dispatch Manager and obtain approval beforeimplementation
- Assistwith loading and unloading using hand trucks, pallet jacks, J-bars, dollies,and other material handling equipment
- Supportresidential moves, collections, and deliveries of furniture and personaleffects
- Learnand apply proper techniques for handling, packing, and transporting fine art,antiques, and fragile items as training progresses
- Completeaccurate trip sheets, condition reports, and other required documentation
- Completemanual timesheets and obtain supervisor or manager signatures within 24 hourswhen starting or ending the workday off-site
- Maintaina professional demeanor and represent the company positively in client-facingsituations
What We Are Looking For
We are seekinglicensed, experienced drivers who take pride in safe, reliable, and carefulservice. No prior art-handling experience is required, as training will beprovided. Candidates with backgrounds in residential moving, interior design,or private-residence fire and water damage restoration are especiallyencouraged to apply, as these skills translate well to handling high-valueitems with care and attention to detail
Qualifications - Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Please note: This is an Illinois specificoperator license, not a commercial DOT license
- 2–3 years of commercial drivingexperience operating 16'–26' straight box trucks
- Clean driving history and ability topass an MVR background check
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push orpull up to 150 lbs using a dolly or cart
- Ability to perform physical dutiesincluding standing, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting,and overhead reaching for extended periods
- Strong organizational andtime-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Effective verbal and writtencommunication skills with attention to accurate documentation
- Collaborative team player who can workeffectively across all levels in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications Preferred — Training Provided
- Experience in residential moving,interior design, or private-residence fire/water damage restoration
- Familiarity with fine art transportationand climate-controlled vehicles
- Prior art handling, gallery, or museumexperience
- Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, andtransportation operations
