Job Summary

Based out of Indianapolis, Indiana, Midwestern Electric is seeking an entry-level individual with experience in diesel trucks, repairs, and maintenance of our truck fleet, including body work and fabrication.

Required Skills / Abilities and Job Description:

  1. Assess, diagnose, repair, and/or replace damaged or worn parts on utility trucks and equipment such as bucket trucks, diggers, and hydraulic systems.
  2. Prepare and maintain accurate records of parts, services, and labor to track costs.
  3. Submit all work and repair orders to a supervisor for approval, ensuring budget adherence and accurate cost tracking via Fleet Maintenance Software.
  4. Be a team player, creative, dedicated, and responsible for repair work.
  5. Possess entry-level knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
  6. Have basic knowledge of computer diagnostic equipment and software.
  7. Exhibit excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Be capable of visually diagnosing mechanical issues.
  9. Read and interpret service and repair manuals.
  10. Perform all duties with safety as a priority.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Entry-level experience with diesel, medium, or heavy trucks and equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and trucks.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Vocational Technical School, Military Wheeled Mechanic training, or related experience is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Current CDL A is preferred but not required.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Physical ability to move objects and tools, including frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling, with a high level of dexterity.
