Job summary

Peoples Natural Gas is hiring a Design Technician I to support engineering and operations in PA. The role involves layout and design for construction and repairs, plus maintaining CAD drawings and field measurements.

A degree in engineering and 1+ years of related gas or pipeline experience are expected, with a valid driver's license. This entry-level position offers growth through the Design Technician I–III progression, safety training, and opportunities in project planning and field oversight

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• 1+ years of relatable experience, preferably in natural gas or underground pipeline projects.
• Valid driver's license to operate Peoples Company Vehicles.
• This position is regulated by 49 CFR Parts 192 and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with layout and design engineering work for construction, repairs, or site modifications.
• Maintain informational databases, records, general data archives, or files using AutoCad drawings.
• Perform field work such as measuring accurately with tape or wheel, taking basic field notes, driving locating stakes, minor right-of-way clearing, and other similar tasks.
• Provide administrative assistance or technical advice related to fieldwork needs, such as permits, database entries, materials requests, map plotting, applications, gas availability, etc.
• Respond, with guidance, to calls from field crews, customers, external groups, etc., requiring gas operations information.
• Prepare cost estimates and determine cost-effective methods of project completion.
• Ensure compliance with company, federal, and state codes.
• Actively participate in safety and training activities or equipment use and repairs.
