Job summary

Foss Maritime Company LLC in Richmond, California seeks an entry-level Deckhand/Engineer to assist in safe operation and maintenance of the dredge and related equipment. Under the Captain and Leverman, you will monitor line handling, operate machinery, and perform engine room rounds; downtime focuses on deck preservation and repair.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications reflect required teamwork, problem solving, and basic literacy.
Must join Inland Boatmen's Union within 30 days of hire.
Valid driver’s license from the state of residence.
Valid Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) with Ordinary Seaman endorsement (OS).
Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).

Responsibilities

Assist in safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the dredge and related machinery.
Monitor and tend barge equipment during loads and offloads (line handling, machinery operation, conveyor belts).
Perform engine room rounds and monitor deck equipment.
During downtime, assist with deck preservation, fabrication, and machinery repair.
