Job summary

WOOD Federal Solutions, Inc. seeks a Data Scientist, Level 1 at Fort Meade, Maryland. You will design and prototype machine learning, statistical, graph-based, and data-mining algorithms to analyze diverse datasets, translate findings into concise reports and visualizations, and build production-grade analytics for analyst workflows.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, operations research, engineering or CS with 4 years of data analytics experience and 2 years programming experience in R, Python, SAS or MATLAB.
• Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of analytics experience and 1 year of programming experience.
• Alternative: 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree plus 2 years programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Produce data visualizations and insight into dataset structure.
• Collaborate with SMEs to extract information from diverse data formats (SQL, metadata, logs).
• Translate SME input into feature vectors for analytics development and testing.
• Convert qualitative analysis goals into quantitative models in software prototypes.
• Develop statistical, ML, and heuristic techniques for descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
• Design statistical tests to support data-driven recommendations.
