Job summary

Johnson Controls in Linthicum, MD is seeking a field technician to perform system commissioning using Johnson Controls tools and to troubleshoot basic HVAC mechanical and electrical issues. You will respond to warranty calls and act as a trusted advisor to customers, delivering on-site solutions and outcomes.

Responsibilities include loading controller software, conducting diagnostics from system controllers to sensors/actuators, documenting changes for as-built records, maintaining safety

Qualifications

• Four-year Vocational program or Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field plus three years of industry experience or 1 year experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in HVAC industry.
• Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and other contacts ethically and professionally.
• Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
• Leadership to support mechanics on non-complex Building Automation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Load system-level controller software and perform basic commissioning.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot basic HVAC-related issues on site.
• Keep customers informed of progress and issues; provide on-site documentation.
• Calibrate systems with basic electronic test equipment.
• Complete administrative tasks (time sheets, expense reports).
• Document changes for as-built records and communicate with customers on arrival/departure.
• Follow safety standards and participate in safety training.
• Provide recommendations to improve facility efficiency and quotes for services.
