Job summary

BW Design Group is seeking an entry‑level Controls Engineer to support data center projects in Texas. You will be on-site, relocating with project site assistance for at least one year, and work with the design team to deploy control systems and networking infrastructure.

You will configure hardware, validate system functionality, and assist with commissioning activities, including Ignition applications and Rockwell controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience starting up control systems with significant on-site time.
• Strong communication skills and ability/desire to work within large teams.

Responsibilities

• Execute deployment of control systems and related technology on site.
• Configure hardware, validate system functionality, and support commissioning activities.
• Lead on-site guidance to BW Design Group subcontractors (electricians).
• Configure communication protocols for equipment including switchgear, breakers, and power meters.
• Deploy and commission Ignition applications, Rockwell controls, and other control systems.
• Grow expertise in a major emerging market and lead large client engagements.

Role Summary

This role will support data center projects in Texas. Candidates must be willing to relocate, with assistance, to a project site for at least one year.

Position Overview

As an entry‑level Controls Engineer, you will execute structured deployment of control systems, networking infrastructure, and integrated technology solutions on site. Your tasks will include configuring hardware, validating system functionality, and supporting commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the successful deployment of multiple greenfield data centers; scopes will include BMS and EPMS.
• Receive the applications from the design team and deploy them to each site.
• Handle point‑to‑point checkout of thousands of devices.
• Configure communication protocols for multiple types of equipment including switchgear, breakers, and power meters.
• Configure and calibrate instruments (meters, VFDs, flow meters).
• Deploy and commission Ignition applications, Rockwell controls, and other similar control systems involving PLCs and SCADA.
• Provide on‑site guidance and leadership to BW Design Group subcontractors (electricians).
