S&ME Inc. in Atlanta, GA is seeking an Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join the Construction Services team.

You’ll help verify that materials and work meet industry standards through field testing, inspections, and observation while gaining hands-on experience. Starting with concrete sampling and testing, you’ll expand to soils, asphalt, and masonry, with paid on-the-job training toward ACI and ICC certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong work ethic and team mindset.
• Attention to detail and clear communication in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Basic math skills with understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

S&ME is seeking an Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Atlanta, Georgia.

About The Role:

As an Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you'll help verify that construction materials and work being performed meet industry standards and project requirements. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands‑on experience through field testing, inspections, and construction observation while building technical knowledge and skills that will help you build a long‑term career.

• Learn Construction Materials Testing: Begin with concrete sampling and testing, then expand into soils, asphalt, and masonry as you grow.
• Earn While You Learn: Receive paid, on‑the‑job training and support for ACI and ICC certifications.
• Preform Testing & Documentation: Perform field and lab tests, maintain equipment, and ensure accurate, complete daily reporting.
• Support Inspections: Conduct onsite inspections, document your findings, and submit your results into MetaField.
• Outdoor Work Environment: Enjoy working outside year‑round in changing conditions, with new sites and crews keeping things exciting and challenging.

Field Work, Schedule & Travel

This position is primarily based outdoors on active construction sites throughout Georgia. Work schedules may vary based on project needs and weather conditions and can include early mornings, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and overtime opportunities paid at time‑and‑a‑half. Some travel may be required to support projects across the region.

Using company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), you should be comfortable:

• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Traveling to project sites as needed
• Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for extended periods, potentially up to 12 hours per day
• Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 pounds of equipment and materials
• Safely maneuvering field equipment around active construction sites

About You:

• You have a High School diploma/GED
• You have a strong work ethic and a team mindset
• You have strong attention to detail and effective communication skills in English, including speaking, reading, and writing
• You have basic math skills with an understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
• You understand a fluctuating weekly schedule and occasional travel
• You have a valid U.S. driver's license, with an acceptable driving record
• You can safely operate a company-assigned vehicle, including trucks and SUVs
• You are willing to complete a background check, driving record check, and drug screen upon offer of employment
