Job summary

ECS Limited is hiring a Field Technician to perform field observations, testing, and sampling of soils, aggregates, and concrete across our Harrisonburg projects. No prior experience is required, and training plus certifications will be provided as you learn under seasoned professionals.

The role emphasizes safe construction practices, data collection, and daily communication with site teams. The expected pay range is $17/hour, with final compensation based on location and credentials.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
• Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
• Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
• Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and ASTM laboratory standards.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field activities: observe, test, and sample soils, aggregates, and concrete on project sites; execute tasks under guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers.
• Conduct routine field and laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete following industry standards and procedures.
• Collect data and perform calculations from sampling and test results and assist with drafting and administrative duties as requested.
• Maintain daily communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers; inform supervisor of changes and coordinate testing requests.
• Receive training in ECS methodology for observations, inspections, and testing; document findings with accuracy.
