Job summary

LJB Inc. is seeking an Entry-level Civil Engineer to support municipal, transportation, and water/sewer projects from our Dayton, Ohio office. The ideal candidate will have 0–4 years of experience and a B.S. in civil engineering with EIT.

The role involves designing site plans and civil systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D, collaborating with project managers, and coordinating with survey crews. Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

We are seeking candidates to fill the position ofEntry-level Civil Engineer to serve a varied client base and help expand our Municipal, transportation, and water/sewer sector in our Dayton, Ohio office.

The ideal candidate will have 0-4 years of experience and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. The successful candidate will possess a can-do attitude, have a passion for and take pride in their work, be a creative thinker, and have a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.

Salary Range:

$75,000-86,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

CIVIL DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Design all aspects of municipal and private engineering projects including sanitary sewers, stormwater design, site plans, and minor roadway projects.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop concept plans, grading plans and site designs in conformance with client requirements and company standards.
• Work closely with project managers to complete a variety of site civil design tasks.
• Coordinate with survey crews.
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of the client’s standards.
• Able to adapt to quickly changing priorities and conditions.
• This role is primarily office-based; however, occasional travel to project sites and other work-related locations may be required.
• Must be able to report to work-related locations as required, including travel to locations that may not be accessible by public transportation.
• Desire to innovate and solve difficult problems from inception to final deliverable.
• Other duties as assigned.

CIVIL DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• EIT required.
• 0-4 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic proficiency AutoCAD or Civil 3D.

Core Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations
• Ability to work independently and in team settings

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access and navigate active job sites and construction areas, with or without reasonable accommodation.
