Job summary

Bowman Consulting invites applications for the CEI Inspector I role in Columbia, SC. The position supports daily inspection of roadway construction, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications and maintaining clear daily logs.

You will assist in earthwork, paving, drainage, and concrete work, with supervision while developing professional certifications and familiarity with DOT procedures. Local travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (GED) required; engineering program helpful; commensurate experience considered.
• Entry level position; no prior experience required; roadway project inspection preferred.
• DOT or municipal roadway project experience including daily records and reports preferred.
• DOT CEI certifications are a plus; OSHA/DOT/client training may be required post-hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspection of construction work under supervision; prepare daily reports.
• Oversee aspects of roadwork including earthwork, paving, drainage, and structure installation.
• Review drawings, coordinate RFIs and submittals; communicate deviations to management.
• May direct contractors as field engineer representative and owner’s representative.
