Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking entry-level CBP Officers (GS-5 and GS-7) for priority locations nationwide.

Officers protect the United States at airports, seaports, and land border crossings by enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws while facilitating lawful travel and trade. Responsibilities include screening travelers, cargo, and vehicles; enforcing laws; detecting suspicious activity; and preventing illegal entry while supporting national security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in any major.
• Ability to pass a background investigation, polygraph, medical exam, and fitness screening.
• Must be referred for selection before the 40th birthday; Veterans'' Preference considerations apply.

Responsibilities

• Screen travelers, cargo, and vehicles at ports of entry.
• Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Detect suspicious behavior and prohibited goods or potential threats.
• Prevent illegal entry, smuggling, and other unlawful activity.
• Protect national security while facilitating lawful travel and trade.
