Job summary

United Weld Holdings is seeking an entry level Buyer to join our Procurement team. The role focuses on sourcing and procuring tubular steel products for pipe spooling, ensuring timely delivery and cost effectiveness.

You will maintain supplier relationships, develop new sources, negotiate costs, and track spend while adhering to purchasing policies. The position reports to a supervisor and involves on-site activities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and strengthen relationships with suppliers.
• Develop new supply sources when needed.
• Negotiate lower costs with vendors.
• Measure and track internal performance and responsible spend.
• Approve purchase orders and invoices based on approval levels.
• Ensure proper documentation is sent from the suppliers and that all purchasing activities adhere to established policies and procedures.
• Be aware of market forces, which have significant bearing on relevant negotiations or future purchases.
• Pursue cost reductions on a continuing basis.
• Work with vendors both on-site and off-site to maintain proper inventory levels, quality, and delivery for purchased items.
• Ability to negotiate and maintain contract agreements for strategic commodities.
• Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.
• Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
• Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
