KPFF Consulting Engineers seeks an Entry-Level Bridge Structural Engineer to join our Boise, Idaho team. You will support our bridge group on infrastructure projects across Idaho, collaborating with public agencies and municipalities to deliver safe, durable designs.

The role emphasizes hands-on design and analysis using structural software, site observations, and clear communication with clients and project teams.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Up to two years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Exposure to Idaho infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Experience with structural/bridge software.
  • Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI codes.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design and analysis for bridges and related structures using structural/finite element software and spreadsheets.
  • Assist in preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports for new construction or evaluation of existing structures.
  • Conduct site visits to understand project conditions and requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with project teams and clients to support effective project delivery.

Job description

We are seeking a passionate Entry-Level Bridge Structural Engineer to join our growing bridge group in Boise, Idaho. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful infrastructure projects across Idaho, including work for public agencies like ITD, local agencies, and municipalities. You will support multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with clients, contributing to projects that positively impact communities throughout the state.

In this position, you will:
  • Perform structural design and analysis for bridges and associated structures utilizing structural software, finite element software, and/or spreadsheets.
  • Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports for new construction and/or evaluation of existing structures.
  • Conduct site visits to understand project conditions and requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with project team members and clients, supporting effective project delivery.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Up to two years of experience in structural engineering. Previous exposure to infrastructure projects in Idaho preferred.
  • Previous work (or internship) experience in structural or bridge engineering preferred.
  • Proficiency in structural or bridge engineering software.
  • Knowledgeable in structural and bridge design codes such as AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, etc.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and mechanics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

Primarily work in a standard office setting with occasional travel to bridge and project sites.

Field visits may involve walking, standing, kneeling, climbing slopes or embankments, and navigating uneven terrain.

Must comply with all safety requirements in the office and on project sites.
