Job summary

CAPS Aviation is seeking an entry-level Aviation Repair Station Technician for our Van Nuys, CA team. This hands-on role involves inspecting, servicing, and overhauling life rafts, vests, survival kits, and related equipment per FAA and manufacturer guidelines.

Training is provided to those with strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. No prior aviation experience is required; candidates must be able to learn and follow complex procedures, work safely with tools, and document work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand tools.
• Ability to read and follow detailed written procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic computer and data-entry skills.
• Ability to complete documentation accurately.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to learn aviation repair-station procedures.
• Related hands-on experience helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, repair, and overhaul aviation life rafts, life vests, survival kits, and related safety equipment.
• Use hand tools, power tools, test equipment, and shop equipment safely.
• Follow manufacturer instructions, company procedures, and FAA requirements.
• Complete work orders, inspection records, checklists, and documentation accurately.
• Handle and store tools, equipment, parts, and customer property.
• Identify and report discrepancies or damaged equipment to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Participate in required training and maintain proficiency.
• Collaborate with technicians, inspectors, shipping, and receiving teams.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
