Job summary

Martorell Law APC seeks a full-time litigation associate in Los Angeles to support a dynamic, growing practice across civil, entertainment, IP, and personal injury matters. The successful candidate will assist Partners from strategy through discovery, motion practice, and trial, contributing to both plaintiff and defense work.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and CA bar status or eligibility.
• Ability to conduct research, draft motions, pleadings, and handle discovery.
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of independent work.
• Experience in civil, entertainment, IP, or personal injury litigation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform legal research and writing for lawsuits in State and Federal courts.
• Meet trial deadlines, attend court appearances, and develop case strategy with partners.
• Manage cases and track 1,800 billable hours per year.

Job description

Boutique litigation law firm primed for growth is seeking a full-time litigation associate eager to enter the firm on the ground floor. Ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited law school, have sat for or passed the State Bar Examination, and be interested in general civil litigation, entertainment litigation, intellectual property law/litigation, entertainment litigation, and/or personal injury litigation. The attorney will be responsible for assisting with existing cases being handled by the firm, from developing strategy to handling discovery, engaging in motion practice, trial preparation, and trial along with one of the firm’s Partners primarily. Compensation will include a competitive base salary and discretionary profit-sharing bonus. Opportunity for growth and future partnership.

This is a dynamic and fast-paced complex litigation group with a collaborative atmosphere, specializing in both plaintiff and defense side entertainment, employment, business litigation, and some personal injury litigation. The ideal candidate would be able to work individually but also within a group.

Responsibilities

• Legal research and writing for lawsuits pending in State and Federal courts.
• Meet trial deadlines, make court appearances, and manage existing cases being handled by the firm, from developing strategy to handling discovery, engaging in motion practice, trial preparation, and trial along with the firm’s Partners.
• 1,800 billable hours per year, recorded promptly.

Qualifications

• J.D. from accredited law school.
• Must be seeking licensed or be licensed to practice law in California.
• Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
• Adept at conducting research and proficiency with standard legal software, drafting motions and pleadings, drafting and responding to discovery, and preparing cases for trial.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
