Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions that are presented in English.
• Ability to lift and move 50 lbs on a regular basis and sustain physical activities.
• Ability to wear PPE including scrubs, gloves, shoe covers, gowns, and eye protection.

Responsibilities

• Learn to and become proficient in providing care for all small animal species daily.
• Learn to and become proficient in providing feed to animals per SOPs.
• Learn to and become proficient in changing animal housing and transporting soiled items.
• Learn to and become proficient in housekeeping in animal housing areas.
• Learn to and become proficient in maintaining animal records and room parameters.
• Communicate with research staff regarding animal status via verbal, written, or electronic means.
• Learn to use animal housing systems and PPE procedures in the vivarium.
• Learn to and become proficient in mixing cleaning solutions per SOPs.
• Operate equipment washers, water bottle filling systems and autoclaves under supervision.
• Assist in inventory control and order items as needed.
• Attend training classes and may assist in transporting animals or supplies.
