Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA is seeking an Animal Technician I to join our biomedical research support team. This entry-level role performs routine animal husbandry, sanitation, and basic equipment operation under supervision and training.

You will learn to evaluate animal health, assist veterinary staff, and follow safety and regulatory procedures in a collaborative environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions presented in English.
• Ability to lift and move 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Associates Degree and 6 months related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for all small animal species daily per SOP; report health abnormalities.
• Operate animal housing systems and equipment washers; autoclaves under supervision.
• Perform sanitation duties in animal housing areas and surroundings.
• Communicate effectively with research staff (verbal/written/electronic).
• Learn and follow applicable regulatory and safety regulations in biomedical research.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
