Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking entry-level engineers to support Ship Signatures Department. You will contribute to acoustic design of propulsion plant machinery, identify noise control features, and perform finite element analyses to ensure submarine noise performance.

You will collaborate with internal departments and external vendors, develop acoustic calculations, and participate in noise testing while learning modern modeling techniques under mentorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher in engineering fields listed.
• 0-5 years post grad experience in engineering.
• MATLAB or other coding language proficiency.
• Proficiency in gear noise or other machinery noise mitigation techniques.
• Active DoD SECRET clearance or ability to obtain and maintain.

Responsibilities

• Develop acoustic calculations and specification requirements for ship systems.
• Review component vendor design submittals and conduct noise testing.
• Develop numerical modeling methods using FE/BE/SEA techniques.
• Communicate noise requirements across Design-Build-Sustain teams.
• Gain knowledge of finite element and dynamic vibration concepts through mentoring.
