Job summary

NeoGenomics is seeking an Accessioning Technician to ensure proper handling of specimens and prep for testing. This entry-level role includes data entry, labeling, and preparing cases for laboratory workflows.

The position requires a High School diploma, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, biohazard environment. It is a temporary full-time shift from Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, in Aliso Viejo, CA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1+ years of accessioning or similar lab experience preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office programs.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Receives and sorts specimens for testing
• Reviews all requisitions for missing information, works with Client Services to obtain missing information promptly
• Timely and accurately enters data into LIS, labels samples and creates folders, generates travel documents
• Assembles case paperwork and files, including pre-analytic documentation and labels
• Performs entry of add-on testing and coordinates split specimens
• Sends out specimens to appropriate reference laboratories by coordinating shipments and maintaining client communication
• Performs quality assurance checks of samples
• Uses chain of custody logs for slides and blocks; oversees QC workflow and block log reconciliation
• Identifies and reports quality or compliance concerns and takes corrective action as required
