Job summary

City of Las Vegas is hiring a Fire Apparatus Mechanic I to perform skilled mechanical overhaul and repair on a variety of gasoline and diesel vehicles, including fire engines and ambulances. You will diagnose problems, perform routine servicing, and help maintain records in a busy municipal fleet.

This entry-level position requires four years of related experience or equivalent and a Nevada Class B CDL with N endorsement within 6 months of hire, plus NIASE certifications.

Qualifications

• Four years experience in the service and repair of cars, trucks and automotive equipment, including diesel and electrical/electronic systems repair.
• Equivalent to graduation from high school.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical problems in fires department vehicles and perform major and minor overhaul and repair of engines and pumps.
• Assist in training of firefighting personnel and lower level staff.
• Assist in maintaining service and maintenance records and inventory.
• Test-drive and deliver vehicles as needed.
