Job summary

King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) is hiring Entry Deputy, a civil service position focused on patrol and community safety in King County, WA. The program includes BLEA sponsorship, a comprehensive benefits package, and a structured multi-step hiring process from testing to background investigation.

Successful applicants will join a large, nationally recognized sheriff's team, with opportunities for growth and advancement as they complete training and begin field duties in patrol operations

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen, LPR, or eligible for DACA status.
• Must read, speak and write English fluently.
• Must be at least 20.5 years old at time of application.
• Pass the GSI law enforcement written exam with 70% or above and the PAT.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Background standards must be met per KCSO rules.
• Background requirements will be evaluated throughout the hiring process.

Responsibilities

• Patrol a designated area of the county and respond to calls for service.
• Interview victims and witnesses, secure and gather evidence.
• Complete administrative tasks such as incident and arrest reports.
• Investigate family disputes and reports of child maltreatment.
• Respond to calls involving individuals with social or behavioral issues.
• Be a resource to the community and engage in community activities.
• Testify in court and present facts clearly and objectively.
