Job summary

Canada’s Wonderland is seeking a technically skilled stage crew member to support live events and performances. You will operate light boards, audio consoles, and special effects, perform shows on time, troubleshoot, and assist with rehearsals and setup in various outdoor environments.

You must be ready to climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, work outdoors, and collaborate with production staff to maintain safety and smooth operation across the park’s stages.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of technical theater including safety, audio and lighting systems, effects, maintenance.

  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a light board, audio console, and effects equipment for shows and events.
  • Perform all shows on time and as directed by management.
  • Assist with rehearsal and operation under Production Staff guidance.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting for sound, lighting and effects equipment.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness in all venue areas.
  • Report unsafe acts to the Stage Manager and follow SOPs.
  • Help train new personnel when needed.

Job description

Overview

To support the technical aspects of live events and performances

Responsibilities
  • Operate a light board, audio console, special effects equipment for shows and special events in the park.
  • Perform all shows on time and as designed by Full Time Management.
  • Execute cue as set by the Production Staff and Full Time Management. The performance will not vary from the direction set during the production period throughout the course of the show’s run.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting and maintenance for sound system, special effects equipment, lighting system, lighting fixtures or other technical components.
  • Be involved in the rehearsal and operation of your respective productions under the direction of the Production Staff.
  • Navigate in, on, or around scenic elements associated with specific production in potentially dark and restrictive spaces.
  • Required to climb ladders and work at heights in excess of 35 feet and lift more than 50 pounds.
  • Maintain clean and safe atmosphere in all areas of a specific venue. This may include, but not limited to sweeping, mopping, cleaning up trash, cleaning restrooms, and cleaning the storage/shop area.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment in a safe manner and utilize all appropriate Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Help to manage and maintain the House before and after show, to assist guests with questions and to help clean the house in preparation for the next performance.
  • Adhere to and enforce all park policies and procedures as outlined in the Seasonal Handbook and the Department Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
  • Wear and maintain park issued uniform. Team Member is required to provide black steel-toed shoes.
  • Immediately report any unsafe acts to the unit Stage Manager.
  • Train new personnel as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Age: 18
  • Shifts are dependent on production needs
  • Knowledge of technical theater, including but not limited to: theater safety, audio and lighting systems, special effects, maintenance and repair.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for the length of shift
  • Must be able to work with ladders, scaffolding or lifts
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Must be professional, self-motivated, the ability to multi-task and have an enthusiastic attitude
  • Must have strong teamwork skills and the ability to work with others
