Job Description

Working in a collaborative production team environment, this role is responsible for expediting all aspects of technical design/drafting along with show production support and staff oversight . This will include design, development, fabrication / installation oversight , facility interface, operation, maintenance, and documentation in compliance with codes, and jurisdictional requirements for Entertainment projects .

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Working directly under the Sr Technical Designer in collaboration with Technical Manager and Art Department to strategize on approach of design and production at the beginning of each new job.
  • Work with various disciplines to integrate show systems including but not limited to A/V, lighting, electrical, and special effects elements into technical design package.
  • Produce accurate technical drawings, details, install packages, as-built, structural, rough and finish construction details, etc. for internal, and outsourcing to contractors/vendors.
  • Review and redline technical drawings for client approval.
  • Coordinate design documentation from contractors/vendors with an emphasis on checking for compliance with contractual requirements and specifications.
  • Assist estimating and design where necessary.
  • Produce installation packages that adequately shows the installation crew how to install the exhibit within the larger space.
  • Maintain revision and document control digitally and on site.
  • Coordinate close-out packages, maintenance manuals, as-builts, and revisions.

Qualifications:
Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements :

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a technical design/drafting capacity, with minimum 2 years in a leadership role
  • Working knowledge of various types of both general, and scenic construction and materials including Type V construction
  • Strong experience with Auto CAD 2D, 3D, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong leadership and ability to lead staff on project deliverables with ability to work well with limited information and constant change.
  • Solid in-field installation experience in entertainment / theme park environment
  • Working in fast-paced environments with accelerated production schedules.
  • Working knowledge of stage/entertainment practices, equipment, and technologies.
  • Confidence to effectively communicate across all lines of business.
  • Strong awareness of Environmental Safety standards, and ADA
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and nights as required.

  • Strong experience with local jurisdictional protocols, and processes
  • Ability to achieve results through the flawless execution of strategies and process.
  • Ability to identify and communicate creative solutions to challenges, and to maintain a consistent focus on priorities with persistent follow-through.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Architecture, Sketchup, REVIT
  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Production, or related entertainment field
