Job summary

Wynn Las Vegas is seeking an experienced Stage Manager to oversee daily performances and rehearsals in a high-profile theater environment. You will call shows, coordinate with automation and stage crew, and manage safety, schedules, and communications for cast and crew.

The role requires leadership under pressure, strong organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to complex technical elements and high elevations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 4+ years management experience as Stage Manager for a large-scale theatrical/production show.
  • Experience with automation, rigging, and familiarity with lighting, audio and carpentry.

  • Orient new performers with schedule, safety measures, and show specifics.
  • Maintain Stage Management bible and calling script; update training materials.

Job Description

Reporting to the General Stage Manager, the Stage Manager will be required to:

  • Assist the General Stage Manager with managing the daily performances and rehearsals.
    • Run rehearsals as required, which may include calling of cues and the ability to execute in show like conditions. Must have an understanding of all lifts, winches, and scenic elements.
    • Call the show in rotation with other members of Stage Management. This requires an understanding all off technical and performance elements to succeed in maintaining control of the show.
    • Run a deck track during each performance when not calling the show.
    • Attend the weekly scheduling meeting and produce the daily rehearsal schedule. Record the schedule on the hotline and email to the cast on a daily basis.
    • Assist with preparing communicating and distributing the daily schedule as needed.
    • Assist with managing the performers on the various levels of the theater and with loading and unloading from the various apparatus and communicate to automation and stage management on their status.
    • Run the sound during the rehearsal when needed.
  • Create and maintain the cast line‑up schedule. This includes knowing each of the performers track sheets and the ability to rotate a performer into a new track if needed.
  • Assist with creating, maintaining and posting the daily sign‑in sheets.
  • Assist the General Stage Manager with managing the performers in terms of safety, time management, efficiency and communication.
    • Work with the Stage Management team to rehearse, maintain and implement safety plans and procedures for the stage.
    • Assist with finding a solution and oversee the implementation of the plan in the event of a problem that occurs onstage during a performance or rehearsal and communicate the problem to the appropriate parties.
  • Meet with all new performers to provide a stage management orientation and theater tour.
    • Make sure the performer understands all aspects of the schedule, line‑up, safety measures and all other aspects of the show as it pertains to stage management.
  • Assist the General Stage Manager with the Stage Management bible which includes the gathering of information from all technical departments, updating the various forms that are in the bible and updating other information as needed.
  • Assist the General Stage Manager with maintaining and revising the calling script as necessary.
  • Create and maintain an up to date training script for the Stage Management department.
  • Assist the General Stage Manager with monitoring attendance at rehearsals and meetings.
  • Assist the General Stage Manager with notifying Company Management of any performer disciplinary issues that need to be addressed.
  • Work with the Company Manager, Resident Director and Wynn PR and Marketing teams on all PR and Marketing initiatives and special events when required.
  • Assist with enforcing all company policies and procedures as they relate to the show.
  • Provide assistance to the performers and support the performers by assisting and guiding their interaction with all Stage Management needs.
  • Support the Company Manager and General Stage Manager in creating an atmosphere that promotes teamwork and assists in creating a positive atmosphere.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Experience / Education
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent work‑related experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ management experience working as a Stage Manager for a large‑scale theatrical or production show with automated systems or similar position.
  • Must have experience working with a variety of cast members.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of automation and rigging which apply to cueing and creating a safe work environment for performers and crew. Must also have knowledge of lighting, audio and carpentry.
  • Prior experience working with puppets a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have the ability to read music.

  • Must be able to discipline performers and perform under pressure.
  • Must have the ability to direct and motivate the performers.
  • Must be highly organized and able to function in a stressful environment.
  • Must be able to manage, prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to perform under pressure and manage conflicts.
  • Must be willing to define, practice and conform to safe working procedures.
  • Must possess excellent problem‑solving skills, strong organization skills and strong interpersonal skills with proven talents in leadership and teamwork.
  • Must be able to break down barriers between backstage and onstage personnel.
  • Must be a team builder and be able to create strong teams.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent phone etiquette.
  • Must have strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Must be able to adapt to unexpected situations.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, holidays and long hours).
  • Ability to work around strobe lighting and smoke effects.
  • Ability, experience, and comfort in working at high elevations in a theatrical environment.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
  • Must have the ability to work with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of OSHA health and safety protocols is required.
  • Must have current OSHA 10 General Industry Safety Card.
