Erias Ventures, LLC is seeking an Enterprise Software Engineer in Columbia, MD to design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. You will work with a collaborative team to deliver innovative solutions using modern Java frameworks and RESTful services.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, learning new technologies, and contributing to high-impact projects while alternating between in-office and flexible hybrid work arrangements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Software Engineering with modern Java frameworks.

Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. Will work closely with other talented engineers to create software solutions that meet the needs of our clients. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with modern tools and technologies, and you will be encouraged to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field. This position allows for partial telework.

Clearance

A current U.S. Government Security clearance is not required on day 1, but will be processed for one; U.S. citizenship required. Can also consider candidates with current Secret or TS level clearance.

Experience

Five plus (5+) years of experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks, and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) with a Bachelors in related field; or three (3) years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and nine (9) years relevant experience.

• Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting

• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven)
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 2-3 days (full time/8hrs day), per week at our Columbia, MD office or Ft. Meade onsite, flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed

Desired skills

• Current U.S. Government clearance preferred
• Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure)
• Next-Gen Coding Agents: Proven use of AI tools (Claude Code, Gemini) in daily engineering workflows
• Agentic Feature Delivery: Using autonomous agents for multi-file implementation, refactoring, and automated testing
• Experience in distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full text-search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr)
• Scripting experience is a huge plus
• Prior experience or familiarity with Big Data Platform (BDP)/JCRS-D, Data Lake/Warehouse is a plus
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.)
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required in this position as directed by the customer
