Job summary

State of Iowa - Executive Branch is seeking an Information Security Architect to design, implement, and govern the State’s enterprise security architecture. The role focuses on embedding security into technology solutions and aligning with national standards and Iowa strategies.

The candidate will lead security architecture initiatives, define standards, and collaborate with agency partners to ensure audit readiness and robust protection across statewide systems.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field and five years of full-time work in one or more IT/security areas.
• Experience with security architecture, enterprise-level design, and implementation as part of secure solutions.
• Pass and maintain an Active Secret Clearance (CISA SLTPS).

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and govern the State’s enterprise security architecture framework.
• Define and enforce security standards across systems, platforms, and services.
• Establish scalable controls to maintain statewide security posture.
• Identify compensating controls when baselines are not feasible.
• Align with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and Iowa Cyber Strategy.
