Job summary

Midland States Bank is seeking an Enterprise Risk Management Intern in St. Louis, MO, to support the risk management department with operational risk framework, governance processes, and reporting.

The role runs Summer 2027 (May–August), requires residency near St. Louis, and enrollment in a related degree program with at least two years completed. Excel and Teams proficiency, plus strong attention to detail, are essential.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Internship runs Summer 2027, May–August.
• Resident in St. Louis area and report to St. Louis office.
• Enrolled in degree program with 2+ years completed in Finance/Accounting/Business/Risk Management/IS.
• Teamwork and attention to detail are essential.
• Proficiency with Excel and Teams; ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing and updating enterprise process maps and risk/control documentation.
• Support risk assessments and analyze KRIs, events, and data.
• Assist with enterprise risk reporting and governance documentation.
• Contribute to projects on governance, third-party risk, business continuity, process improvement, and change management.
• Collaborate with Risk team and business partners to gain exposure to banking operations and controls.
• Perform other duties and maintain BSA compliance.
