Job summary

The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies is hiring an experienced Director of Risk Management in Oak Brook, IL. This senior role reports to the Chief Risk Officer and oversees complex insurance programs, captive operations, and risk initiatives across the enterprise.

You will lead risk assessments, ERM/ESG efforts, and group P&L reviews, while mentoring the risk team and partnering with executives to shape strategy and mitigate losses. Salary ranges are substantial with bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in Risk Management, Claims, Loss Control, Insurance, and Financial Management.
• Experience with captive insurance administration (required).
• Property & Casualty license required (or ability to obtain within 1 year).
• ARM (Associate in Risk Management) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the placement, structure, and ongoing management of complex property & casualty insurance programs.
• Oversee claims management, ensuring effective resolution and cost control.
• Manage and grow a single-parent captive insurance program domiciled in Vermont.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and enterprise risk analysis.
• Support Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and ESG initiatives.
• Develop and execute strategies for collateral recovery.
• Perform risk-related financial forecasting for strategic decisions.
• Participate in group P&L reviews and trend analysis.
• Advise leadership on insurance market conditions and coverage optimization.
• Develop, implement, and maintain risk management policies and procedures.
• Act as a member of Cyber Security Incident Response Team and ESG committee.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the risk management team; supervise hiring and performance.
• Maintain professionalism and regulatory compliance; perform other duties as assigned.
