Educational and Experience Requirement:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Management Information Systems, or a related field. One year of experience in a data analysis or research position, with foundational knowledge of Excel, Structured Query Language (SQL), STATA, or similar tools or in a related field. Alternatively, one year of experience performing performing key tasks such as data preparation (querying, cleaning, collation, computation, and documentation), data manipulation, statistical analysis, and reporting with graphs and pivot tables. Experience in a higher education setting is a plus. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position:Supports the Office of Data Analytics and Decision Support (DADS) by managing the integrity of the university’s data and reporting. Cooperates with university and authorized external and third-party stakeholders to collect, analyze, interpret, and report on data that informs strategic decision-making at or related to the institution.
Primary Responsibilities:Collects, compiles, edits, and analyzes data from various sources to prepare statistical reports related to university operations. Prepares reports with charts, graphs, and tables to present analysis results. Assists in defining data needs for various university departments and helps develop reporting procedures. Verifies data accuracy, performs computations, and proofreads reports for consistency. Participates in meetings with university and external stakeholders as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications:Must follow established policies and procedures, and independently identify solutions to projects or challenges based on prior training and experience. Interaction with university stakeholders and collaboration across departments will be required.
Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SPSS) and proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, and graphic software. Familiarity with SQL and relational databases is preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-project environment with changing priorities. Capable of managing repetitive tasks as well as new projects independently. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
