Enterprise Products & Experiences Technical Risk Manager - Enterprise Services Risk Office

We are hiring! This role is for a product/technical risk leader to support Capital One Enterprise Product and Experience (EPX). This group is responsible for some of Capital One’s most impactful and strategic work including our mobile app, customer emails and text messages, enterprise identity services, customer data management, and much more. The team is always thinking about game changing products and experiences to benefit our customers and the company, and as their risk partner, you are a central player in all the excitement.

As a Risk Manager you will partner with colleagues across product, design, tech and other risk teams to deliver results that have a direct impact on internal and external customer experience and implement risk solutions to ensure Capital One’s continued stability and success. Responsibilities require partnering with a broad set of leaders and stakeholders to identify existing and potential emerging risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.

The successful candidate will have basic technical knowledge along with foundational knowledge of risk methodologies and the ability to build relationships with business and risk partners. The ability to think from a ‘customer back’ perspective is also critical. Risk managers at Capital One are highly motivated professionals with excellent organizational, leadership and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product and tech leaders by leveraging a trusted advisor model to support business initiatives, issue management, process improvement, control testing and related risk assessment activities
  • Develop a deep understanding of business strategies, products, services, and risk profile
  • Implement improvements to reduce errors and make our processes more reliable and sustainable
  • Ensure independent escalation of risk management gaps, issues, and concerns, including emerging risks and regulatory focus areas
  • Consult on Risks across the first line of defense business partners providing advice and guidance as needed
  • Participate in processes criticality assessments and process level assessments
  • Manage multiple tasks independently to meet deadlines
  • Communicate complex ideas concisely and convincingly, adjust communication to the audience and comfortable with presenting to executive leadership.
  • Collaborative, values diverse perspectives and seeks insights from others. Brings energy to the group and rallies them around a common goal.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience in Risk Management
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting internal or external business clients
  • At least 3 years of experience in project, process, or program management
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results and communicate with all levels

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • 5+ years experience in Risk Management
  • 5+ years of experience in Change or Process Management
  • Risk Certifications (CRCM, CAMS, CIPP, ABA Risk Management Certification)
  • Business Process Management certification, Lean or Green Belt Certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $158,400 - $180,800 for Manager, Cyber Risk & Analysis

Richmond, VA: $144,000 - $164,400 for Manager, Cyber Risk & Analysis

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
