Overview

LMI is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Enterprise MuleSoft Integration Engineer / Architect to support Project Manager Logistics-Finance (PM LOG-FIN) and the U.S. Army with digital modernization and integration initiatives. This role will lead the design, development, deployment, scalability, and central management of a unified, enterprise-wide MuleSoft Anypoint Platform. This position will drive the evolution of an enterprise data hub and gateway solution, securely exposing application programming interfaces (APIs) and data services across critical Army logistics and financial enterprise resource planning (ERPs) systems, authoritative data sources, and external trading partners. Objectives include modernizing complex, custom legacy point‑to‑point interfaces into scalable, modular API‑led services to accelerate mission readiness, financial and supply‑chain interoperability, and cloud modernization.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture & Platform Evolution

• Architect, design, build, and centrally manage an enterprise‑grade, scalable MuleSoft platform and runtime architecture, avoiding siloed separate tenants and enabling cross‑program resource sharing and governance.
• Establish and scale a centralized enterprise data hub and enterprise gateway to expose modular APIs and secure data services across Army logistics, financial ERPs, trading partners, and enterprise systems.
• Support multi‑program enablement and testing workflows, architecting environment configurations to scale beyond single‑instance constraints and support concurrent partner testing, validation, and sandbox work within government cloud environments.
• Lead the modernization of legacy point‑to‑point and batch integrations into modular, service‑oriented, API-led connectivity layers (System, Process, and Experience APIs).

Hands‑on API Design & Integration Development

• Act as the hands‑on technical lead to design, implement and administer API managers to include disparate instances, runtime environments, client applications, contracts, SLA tiers, policy applications, versioning and lifecycle promotion.
• Design and maintain clear API specifications and interface agreements using RAML, OpenAPI, JSON, XML, WSDL, and modern interface definitions.
• Construct complex, high‑performance data transformations and mappings using DataWeave across heterogeneous data formats (JSON, XML, CSV, flat files, and database records).
• Integrate core enterprise applications, authoritative data sources, and ERP backends—including SAP‑based Army systems, financial ledgers, Salesforce, ServiceNow, relational databases, message brokers, and transactional systems.
• Explore and incorporate modern integration capabilities, including event‑driven architectures, messaging services (Anypoint MQ, Kafka, JMS), and emerging AI‑enabled integration and data capabilities.

Security, DevSecOps, & Infrastructure Operations

• Design and implement gateway‑enforced traffic and protection policies based on strict DoW and Army cybersecurity, identity management and security controls, including Oauth, mTLS, PKI/certificates, secrets management, and role‑based access controls (RBAC).
• Configure, automate, and maintain robust CI/CD deployment pipelines leveraging capabilities for gateway‑ and environment‑specific configurations, policy and contract analysis, across the API management environment.
• Support deployment configurations across CloudHub / CloudHub 2.0, Runtime Fabric (RTF), containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes), on‑premises systems, and cArmy/AWS GovCloud infrastructure.
• Implement end‑to‑end observability, distributed logging, alerting, and telemetry using enterprise monitoring suites to ensure high availability, proactive troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

Collaboration, Governance, & Technical Leadership

• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical artifacts, including architectural blueprints, interface control documents (ICDs), API specifications, data flow diagrams, deployment runbooks, and platform governance standards.
• Guide other Army programs requesting integration and testing services, defining best practices, onboarding criteria, and sandbox utilization protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance. Please note, only US Citizens can obtain a clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Must have baseline certifications (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CISSP, or equivalent) or documented education and relevant computing environment certifications (e.g., MuleSoft Certified Integration Associate, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner) or documented education aligned with DoD 8140 / 8570.01-M policies.
• 7+ years of professional software development and enterprise systems integration experience.
• 5+ years of direct, hands‑on experience with the design and delivery of enterprise‑scale API gateway and management implementations, serving multiple programs, tenants, environments, organizations.
• Experience transitioning isolated, single-dev/single‑tenant MuleSoft environments into centrally managed, multi‑program shared platforms with controlled sandboxes.
• Strong proficiency in managing and provisioning Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automating the deployment, scaling and management of containerized applications (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Strong proficiency with the development, execution and governance of integration flows connecting on‑premise and cloud‑based processes, services, applications and data.
• Strong proficiency in the integration of enterprise identity services using APIs to manage, synchronize, and authenticate identities across systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Salesforce Certified MuleSoft Developer / Developer II and/or Salesforce Certified MuleSoft Integration Architect or MuleSoft Platform Architect.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or specialized cArmy cloud architecture credentials.
• Prior experience supporting U.S. Army or Department of War enterprise modernization programs, specifically core logistics and financial systems and platforms.
• Familiarity or hands‑on experience incorporating AI‑assisted tooling and automation tools (DataWeave, Tricentis, etc.).

Target salary range: $150,000-$180,000
