Job summary

The University of Texas at El Paso seeks an Enterprise Digital Coordinator to support its digital accessibility program and ensure ADA Title II compliance across university websites, instructional materials, and third‑party technologies.

You will assist in evaluation, remediation, training, reporting, and governance activities while collaborating with Information Resources, Marketing & Communications, Procurement, Legal, and academic units.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four (4) years of experience evaluating the accessibility of digital content and systems using manual and automated testing tools.
  • Experience with WCAG accessibility standards and assistive technologies.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat Pro, or similar tools for content creation and remediation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and ongoing operations of the university’s digital accessibility program.
  • Assist in developing strategies to achieve compliance with accessibility requirements.
  • Participate in accessibility governance activities and policy reviews.
  • Collaborate with departments to integrate accessibility requirements into workflows.
  • Stay current on accessibility standards and best practices to support compliance.
  • Represent the Digital Accessibility program in meetings and support the EIR Coordinator.

Job Location: On-site: El Paso, TX

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Position Summary

The Enterprise Digital Coordinator supports the EIR Coordinator in implementing and maintaining UTEP’s digital accessibility program to ensure compliance with ADA Title II and applicable federal and state accessibility requirements, including WCAG 2.1 AA or later adopted standards. This role contributes to reducing institutional risk by supporting accessibility evaluation, remediation, training, reporting, and governance activities across university digital services, including websites, instructional materials, and third-party technologies.

Statement Of Duties And Responsibilities
  • Supports the implementation and ongoing operations of the University’s digital accessibility program.
  • Assists in developing and executing strategies to achieve compliance with federal and state accessibility requirements.
  • Participates in accessibility governance activities, including committees and policy reviews and updates.
  • Collaborates with Information Resources, Marketing & Communications, Procurement, Legal, and academic units to integrate accessibility requirements into institutional workflows.
  • Stays current on accessibility standards, regulations, and best practices to support ongoing compliance efforts.
  • May represent the Digital Accessibility program in meetings, reviews, and initiatives as assigned and serves as a designated backup to the EIR Coordinator.
  • Supports the EIR Coordinator in tracking institutional accessibility progress.
  • Reviews digital content, including websites, documents, course materials, and multimedia, and provides remediation guidance aligned with established standards.
  • Conducts accessibility testing using automated tools, keyboard navigation, and assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers, voice recognition software) to validate accessibility beyond automated scan results.
  • Analyzes accessibility scan reports to identify issues and measure progress.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports on accessibility data from enterprise tools and dashboards to support institutional reporting.
  • Tracks remediation progress and supports prioritization of high-impact accessibility issues.
  • Conducts accessibility reviews of third-party software, services, and digital content. Reviews include evaluation of Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) provided by vendors.
  • Documents accessibility risks, supports exception and approval processes, and provides guidance on alternative access methods when required.
  • Ensures third-party accessibility reviews, approvals, and exceptions follow federal and state requirements.
  • Coordinates with Procurement and vendors to obtain and review accessibility documentation to support compliance evaluations.
  • Maintains documentation related to digital accessibility compliance, including reviews, exception requests, and audit materials, ensuring records support progress tracking and audit readiness.
  • Assists in developing and delivering digital accessibility training sessions and workshops.
  • Provides accessibility support through the University’s ticketing system, including remediation guidance.
  • Maintains the University’s digital accessibility website and guidance materials.
  • Complies with all State and University policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience evaluating the accessibility of digital content and systems using manual and automated testing tools, including assistive technologies (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver). Experience with digital accessibility standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Experience using Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat Pro, or similar tools for digital content creation and remediation. Basic understanding of web content structure (HTML/CSS).

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills to support tracking and audit readiness.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience reviewing accessibility documentation such as VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) and ACR (Accessibility Conformance Report).
  • Experience working with websites, digital content, or online learning systems (LMS), including supporting accessibility and compliance efforts.
  • Experience analyzing data or generating reports to support accessibility tracking.
  • Experience in higher education, public sector, or compliance-related environments.
