Job summary

Esri is seeking an experienced database engineer to design and optimize scalable, secure enterprise database environments across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and SAP HANA. You will work with Defense/Intelligence clients, implement HA/DR strategies, and guide migrations while leveraging cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, administering, and optimizing enterprise databases.
• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA.
• SQL and Python scripting for automation.
• Cloud DB knowledge: AWS RDS, Azure SQL.
• Geospatial data concepts and indexing.
• US citizenship with Active Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM.

Overview

Design the data foundation behind mission-critical geospatial systems.

Join Esri`s Professional Services organization and partner with Defense and Intelligence customers to design, implement, secure, and optimize enterprise database environments supporting geospatial applications.

You`ll bring deep database engineering expertise to complex customer environments, working across database architecture, performance, automation, security, high availability, disaster recovery, cloud database technologies, and spatial data. You`ll also advise customers on database design, migration, and integration approaches throughout the engagement lifecycle.

Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the Redlands, CA area for this position.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure, enterprise database environments

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA
• Demonstrated experience with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, database maintenance, and security
• Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
• Experience with cloud-based database solutions (such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
• Understanding of geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers
• US citizenship with Active or Current (within 2 years of active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field

Recommended Qualifications

• Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases
• Knowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systems
• CompTIA Security + certification
• One or more industry-standard IT certifications (such as Esri, Microsoft, Amazon, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
• Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS or related STEM field

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is: $120,640 USD - $197,600 USD
