Enterprise Data Defect Reporting Manager (Remote)

Overview

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

At First Citizens Bank, our commitment to data integrity and governance is foundational to how we serve our clients and manage risk. We are seeking a results-driven Senior Manager within the Enterprise Data Defect Management & Reporting organization to lead Defect Management and Reporting across the bank’s critical data ecosystems. This role will own the strategy, development, and execution of enterprise-wide data defect lifecycle process reporting capabilities to support regulatory compliance, business operations, and data quality improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, proven experience in enterprise data defect management, reporting, and deep knowledge of data governance best practices in the financial services industry.

Responsibilities

  1. Reporting & Analysis - Creates and maintains key data governance metrics used to ensure awareness and transparency.
  2. Build and maintain robust reporting capabilities to monitor data quality issues, remediation progress, and operational metrics. Deliver actionable insights to senior leaders and governance councils.
  3. Evaluate and implement tools to automate data defect capture, workflow, and resolution tracking. Champion enhancements to improve scalability and transparency.
  4. Lead a team of analysts and specialists focused on data quality monitoring and defect management reporting and analysis. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  5. Drive the development and maintenance of dashboards and reports to monitor defect trends, remediation status, and key metrics for senior leaders and governance forums.
  6. Partner with data stewards, domain owners, and technology teams to facilitate transparent communication of defect impacts.
  7. Translate data insights into recommendations that support informed decision-making across business and technical teams.
  8. Support audits, regulatory reviews, and enterprise risk assessments by providing documentation and metrics related to data defects and resolution activities.
  9. Maintain clear documentation and reporting for defect tracking, including metrics and trends.
  10. Enhance existing defect management processes and implement best practices for issue intake, prioritization, escalation, and resolution tracking.

Business Support

  1. Enforces data management policies and standards across the Partners with Business Units to ensure required attributes and defect management processes are followed.
  2. Act as a trusted advisor to business units, providing guidance on data management policies and data quality standards.
  3. Support business stakeholders in implementing best practices and achieving compliance with enterprise data governance frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Risk Management including Enterprise Data Warehouse OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Risk Management including Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Understanding of data warehousing and transformation as well as extract, transform, and load processes.
  • Knowledge of Cognos and SAS, Ability to write and understand SAS programming language.
  • Knowledge of technologies and trends impacting the financial service and insurance industry.

The base pay for this position is generally between $150,000 and $180,000. Actual starting pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other factors. Total compensation may include bonuses, benefits, and other awards.
