Job Description

Systems Vision and Design:

  • Gather information/requirements from stakeholders across Uncommon to ensure data architecture is in service of the goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Evaluate current data architecture and databases
  • Set and champion the appropriate long-term vision for the data at Uncommon
  • Code new data architecture, integrating existing databases Use ETL (extract, transform, load) best practices in the creation of databases

Systems Management:

  • Research and discover new methods to store and make data accessible to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the D&IT leadership teams to address outstanding items and prioritize remediation
  • Select and implement the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support data technology goals. Establish, document and communicate integration services, capabilities, roadmap, policies and procedures to key stakeholders, including D&IT’s in-house developers
  • Develop and implement key components as needed to create testing criteria in order to guarantee the fidelity and performance of data architecture.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement.

Governance and Documentation:

  • Preserve a repository of all data architecture artifacts
  • Ensure that data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance
  • Develop and promote data management methodologies and standards.
  • Document the data architecture and environment in order to maintain a current and accurate view of the larger data picture.

Subject Matter Expert:

  • Ensure user adoption of new processes by creating training materials and providing mentorship, guidance, support and performance feedback to front-end users of our data systems
  • Independently create detailed communication and change management plans for work streams including simple, creative ways to explain complex information for clear decision-making
  • Act as point of escalation for issues with data systems; Provide Tier 3 support to all D&IT functions on integrations with the data warehouse or between applications
  • Collaborate with project managers and business unit leaders for all projects involving enterprise data.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Partner with DevOps functions in their day-to-day operations (reporting, auditing, integration) to support processes related to data
  • Create and implement solutions, standards and controls to ensure data accuracy and integrity in the current state and in anticipation of a new systems
  • Support the maintenance and upkeep of our existing and upcoming technology tools and understand the integration between them to find efficiencies and solve issues related to transactional work
  • Contract & Payment: Lead renewal and payment of contracts
  • Manage Relationship: Establish relationships with vendors, act as liaison between vendor and Uncommon on any projects, and own school-level issues & difficult conversations.
  • Partner concerns: Work with Director to handle vendor issues
Qualifications

Education Requirements:

Experience Requirements:

  • 7-9years of directly related experience
    • 4+ years of experience working with an RDBMS
    • 4+ years of experience working with a data warehouse solution (Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)
    • 4+ years of SQL experience
    • 3+ years of experience using APIs for the purposes of integration between applications
    • 3+ years of experience with Git
    • Ability to code proficiently in at least one of the following languages (R, Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript)
    • Experience with SDLC methodology (preferred)
    • Previous experience with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment

Compensation

Compensation for this role is between $127,800-$159,700.

Starting pay is determined using various factors, including but not limited to relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. If you meet all job description requirements, you will likely receive an offer of $143,700.
