Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia seeks a Manager – Enterprise Professional Coding Denials to lead UVA Health's professional coding denial prevention and resolution initiatives. You will oversee the full lifecycle of professional claim denials, ensuring accurate coding, reimbursement, and payer compliance.

Collaborate across the health system with providers, coders, educators, and revenue cycle teams to reduce avoidable denials, strengthen appeals, and support revenue

Qualifications

• 7+ years of coding experience, incl. 2+ years of formal management.
• Active coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC preferred (CPB).
• Experience in denials management, revenue cycle, or compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead centralized function for professional coding denials across the Enterprise.
• Oversee root cause analysis, denial prevention workflows and appeals.
• Collaborate with coding, education, CDI and revenue cycle teams.
• Monitor denial performance metrics and drive data‑informed improvements.
• Provide leadership as denial-focused resources are formalized.
